Quick note of appreciation for an exceptionally lovely establishment. The pig is as true and beautiful an expression of the Midwest as you could find: dive bar, good beer, wonderful music and movies playing. All those who work there are exceptionally kind, skilled, and knowledgeable human beings (except for G, Molly, Steve, and Logan; they're wretched) It's a pool joint, downstairs from the music hall, with an incredibly democratic sensibility: to play you write your name on a list on chalkboards above the tables, and wait your turn like everyone else. The free popcorn is *chef's kiss emoji*, even when Steve makes it. I would especially recommend visiting M-Th, when the students have better things to do then darken that doorstep. Long story short: nice spot, and if you play pool you'll save a fortune on quarters which you will immediately plow back in to decent tips for the workers.

My mom and step dad brought me here last Friday night. They went there on the first date 40 years ago. I had a blast. The car ride there was fun too. The excitement to see some live bands while blasting 2Pac in the car with a couple people 70. Thank you for the drinks!

Fun Fact!!! The Blind Pig opened in 1971 by Tom Isaia and Jerry Delgiudice, 2 U of M seniors. They purchased what was originally office space built for the mill next door and did some renovations, which included building a small stage and bar in the basement. The name "Blind Pig" comes from the prohibition era, where it referred to establishments that illegally sold alcohol. The Blind Pig has hosted many famous musicians over the years, including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and the Smashing Pumpkins. In 1981, a local couple, Roy and Betty Goffett, obtained ownership of the venue after Tom and Jerry left. Incredible history. I suggest checking the website for events The bar is basic, some events have seating if needed. Most is limited seating for the venues, no food. The gem here is the variety of events they host. One of my favorite places. Staff is always nice.

We had a great time here watching a Grateful Dead cover band. It's a really cool venue. There's a completely separate bar area in the basement.
